Background On May 19-21,
2003, Lake Forest Community High School District 115, in collaboration
with parents, community members, students and staff accepted the responsibility
to begin a challenging, yet attainable future for our students. Under
the guidance of a highly experienced facilitator, a 27-member Strategic
Planning Team came together to envision the loftiest aspiration for our
high school. During this intensive three-day, thirty-eight hour planning
session, the Planning Team reviewed the school’s strengths and
weaknesses and the impact of social, technological, economic, demographic
and political trends. Using this information as a guide, every member
of the Planning Team arrived at consensus in identifying common beliefs,
creating a mission, setting parameters, developing objectives and specifying
far-reaching strategies for achieving the mission.
For each of the seven strategies identified by the Planning Team, an Action Team
was formed to develop plans for implementation. Action Teams worked from July
through October 2003. |
