The annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery, was held on Friday, May 14, 2010 in the Northbrook office of Congressman Mark Kirk.
This nationwide art competition provides gifted young artists of the 10th district an opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity.
This year’s winner of the competition is Lake Forest High school senior, Elias Ajaga. His painting of himself with his two cousins seated at a small picnic table will be hung for the entire year in the Cannon Tunnel in the Capitol building in Washington DC. Along with this, he and his parents will be flown to Washington in the middle of June for a gala to honor all the student winners from across the country.
Other entries to the competition from Lake Forest High school were Ellie Nesbit and Carolyn Hopfinger.
