Can you tell if the site is fact or opinion?
Is the site free of advertising? If there are ads, is it easy to tell the difference between ads and content?
Is the site sponsored by any organizations?
Is it clear who the site is for?
Is the tone calm and fair (as opposed to angry/hateful)?
What is the site’s domain: .edu, .net, .org, .com, or .gov? (If you see a ~ in the URL, it may be a personal
site, not an official site.)
Trustworthiness of Author or Authoring Organization

Is the author identified by name?
Does it look like the author has an agenda to promote?
Is the place the author works or the organization he/she belongs to given?
Does the organization have an advisory board or board of directors? If so, what kind of people are on it?
Was this site recommended by a site you trust? Search Google by typing “link:” followed by the URL (For example, link: www.cnn.com) to see what other sites link to this site – do they look legitimate? Also, find details about the site through
