Did you know that 16% of our community students receive educational support in our schools through the special education services department?
That works out to be 1.6 children for every 10 in the classroom. What does that mean? It means we have a highly diverse student population with different learning styles – all of whom are valued and should be celebrated.
We are also fortunate to have the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) working in the Tri-District area (65, 67, and 115), as well as with the School of St. Mary, to promote the understanding and acceptance of students with learning differences. The LDA works closely with the school districts to award more than $30,000 worth of grants via the “Make-a-Difference” grant program, annually. Applications have just been delivered to building Principals across the community. These grants not only benefit children with learning issues, but ALL of our children.
Please visit the LDA website: www.lflblda.clubexpress.com for more information about the LDA – what they do, how you can help, and upcoming meetings and events.
