to win the game 9-8. Christian Martin pitched six innings
for Lake Forest and Max Moore worked the 7th inning to pick up
the win for the Scouts. Lake Forest improved to 13-17 on

Mulhearn pitched 6 and 1/3 inning giving up 6 runs to earn the

This was a really great baseball game today. Lake Forest

Lake Forest--giving 2 earned runs, through 6 and 2/3 innings, while

Zage doubled and went to 3rd on a wild pitch. Justin Mulhearn
drove in the game-winning run with a single to right field. Spencer

and defense cost the Scouts the victory. Offensively, the

Chris Godinez (3 for 5, 2 runs, 1 BB, 1 SB), Anthony Prousis (2
for 3, 3 runs, 1 BB). Lake Forest entered the top of the
7th inning down 2 runs, but were able to tie the game by getting
2. They would hold Lake Zurich in the bottom of the 7th inning,
and get 2 more in the top of the 8th inning. Unfortunately,
Lake Zurich would answer with 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
to win the game and drop the Scouts to 6-10 on the season.

muster. Mundelein, on the other hand, hit the ball early
and often. Plus Lake Forest pitchers could not find the strike
zone too often. Overall, it was an ugly game. Lake
Forest dropped to 5-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference.

Lake Forest let their first conference game slip away from them. Lake
Forest built a 2-run lead and Christian Martin made the lead stand
until the top of the 6th inning when Mundelein took a 4-2 lead. Lake
Forest would battle back and add 1 run in the bottom of the 6th
inning, but Mundelein would add 4 more in the top of the 7th inning
to take an 8-3 lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning. Lake
Forest would not go down without a fight. They scored a run
and loaded the bases bringing the tying run to the plate. That
was as close as they got, but it was a good game. Lake Forest
dropped to 5-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference.

Highland Park team 6-1. Max Moore was outstanding on the

really kept Highland Park off balance all game. Chris Godinez
(2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 1 SB) Connor Moutvic (2 for 3, 1 run,
1 RBI, 1BB), and Charlie Gould (2 for 3, 2 RBI) all led the way
for the Scouts’ offense. Another highlight
was Will Frain’s monster homerun to left to lead off the
2nd inning. Lake Forest improved to 5-2 on the season.

Lake Forest dropped their first game of the season losing a close
game 5-3 to Normal. Lake Forest was in the lead most of the
game until the bottom of the 6th inning. Lake
Forest went up 3-0 after 4 innings on runs scored by Chris Godinez,
Charlie Gould and Tim Zage. Unfortunately, they could not hold
the lead as Normal came back in the 5th and 6th inning
to take the lead for good 5-3. Jake Stern pitched really
well for Lake Forest, going 5 innings and giving up just 1 earned
run. The Scouts finished their spring trip with a 3-1 record.

Lake Forest improved to 3-0 on the year with a 15-13 come from
behind victory over Charleston. Charleston went up 10-0
after 3 innings on Lake Forest due to a combination of errors,
walks and hits. In the top of the 4th inning,
Lake Forest started their comeback by scoring 12 runs. Connor
Moutvic (2 for 5, 4 RBI, 1 run), Marc Corigliano (2 for 3,
3 RBI, 2 runs, 2 BB), and Charlie Gould, (1 for 4, 1 RBI, 2 runs,
1 BB) all homered to lead the comeback for the Scouts. Chris
Godinez, Tim Zage and Jake Stern also added to the Lake Forest
comeback. Brett Bartuch picked up the win for Lake Forest
by pitching 4 innings and giving up 2 runs. The Scouts improved
to 3-0 on the year and play Normal tomorrow.

Lake Forest improved to 2-0 on the year with an 8-4 victory over
Danville. Will Frain picked up the victory for the Scouts
by pitching 3 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run. Tim Zage
led the Scouts offensive attack by going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Marc
Corigliano was 1-2 with an opposite- field home run. Chris
Godinez anchored the Lake Forest defense, highlighted by a fully-
extended dive to get a ground ball up the middle and threw the
runner out at first. The Scouts are taking on Charleston
tomorrow to continue their Spring Break Trip.

13-1 victory over Urbana. Lake Forest pounded out 15 hits. Connor
Moutvic, Tim Zage, Charlie Gould, and Justin Mulhearn all had 2 hits each, with
Gould, who hit a home run, and Zage also scoring 3 runs. Christian Martin
earned the win for the Scouts pitching 3 innings, striking out 5 hitters and
giving up 1 hit and 0 runs. Lake Forest is now 1-0 and will play tomorrow
vs. Danville.

Lake Forest and Zion Benton both got tremendous pitching performances. Fortunately
for Lake Forest, Billy Laing was a little bit better. Billy
went all 7 innings giving up 0 runs, only 3 hits, and striking
out 7. Lake Forest could not put together any offense until
the bottom of the 7th inning when Jud Strong led off with a double
to right center. Beau Dobbins laid down a perfect sacrifice
bunt and beat the throw to first, giving Lake Forest runners on
1st and 3rd with no outs. Graham Wolff then hit a single
up the middle through a drawn in infield to give the Scouts a huge
playoff win. Lake Forest now takes on Libertyville
on Wednesday, 5/27/09 at 4:00 at Carmel High School.

Forest was led by Jake Bailey, 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and 1 walk. Chris
Glab was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI on a solo homerun. Graham
Wolff was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Kevin Friedman picked
up the win for the Scouts and Connor Moutvic got the save.

Forest jumped out to a 5-run first inning. Jud Strong, 2
for 5 with 4 RBI, and 1 run scored and Beau Dobbins, 1 for 2 with
1 RBI, 1 run scored, and 2 walks, led the way with back-to-back
homeruns in the top of the first inning. Graham Wolff also
homered on the day going 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI. Jon
Grum was 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and a stolen base and Connor
Moutvic was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored, 1 RBI and a stolen base. Christian
Martin picked up the win for Lake Forest, by pitching 3 and 1/3
innings--giving up 1 hit and 0 earned runs.

inning. They battled back, but they gave up a 3-run home
run in the top of the 6th inning. Ryan Konsler and Marc Corigliano

5 innings while giving up only 1 hit.

Lake Forest’s offense was aided by 13 walks and 3 errors
by North Chicago. Will Frain led the way going 2 for 2 with
3 runs scored, 2 RBIs and 2 walks. Max Moore was 2 for 3
with 3 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 1 walk. Ryan Konsler hit a
2-run home run and was 1 for 1 with 2 walks. Ben Yakmalian

Lake Forest ran into a strong pitching performance against Lake
Zurich. Lake Forest’s offense could only manage 3 hits. Marc
Corigliano led the way by going 2 for 3. Will Frain had the
other hit for Lake Forest and also had 2 walks. Jon Grum
pitched great for Lake Forest going 7 innings, striking out 2,
giving up only 5 hits and 0 earned runs.

Lake Forest 4 - Lake Zurich 5
Lake Forest lost a tough conference game today. After
getting out to a 4 to 1 lead, Lake Forest could not hold the lead. Lake
Zurich came back with 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take
a 5-4 lead. After all that scoring, both pitchers settled down
and no more runs were scored. Marc Corigliano led the way for
Lake Forest going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and 2 doubles

Lake Forest 9 - Clemente 8
Lake Forest needed extra innings to secure the win in the second
game of the double header. After getting out to a solid 7-0
lead, Lake Forest could not hold the lead. Clemente battled
all the way back--scoring 1 run in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th inning
and scoring 4 to tie it in the top of the 7th. Clemente would
add 1 more run in the top of the 8th inning to take the lead, but
that is when Lake Forest finally woke up. They scored 2 runs
in the bottom of the 8th inning to win the game 9-8. Kevin
Friedman pitched 5 innings giving up only 2 runs. Connor
Moutvic closed out the game to pick up the win. Offensively,
Lake Forest was led by two sophomores, who were brought up for
the game. Charlie Gould, 3 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 walk, and
Chris Godinez, 2 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 walk, and 2 stolen bases. Justin
Mulhearn also was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and 2 walks.

Lake Forest got a solid pitching performance from Chris Glab today. He
pitched a complete game giving up 0 earned runs, and striking out
5 hitters. Offensively, Lake Forest was led by Jon Grum,
3 for 4 with 1 run; Jud Stong, 2 for 3 with 1 run, 1 RBI; and Connor
Moutvic, 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored.

Lake Forest had tough day today. They did not pitch well
or play good defense. Lake Forest did hit the ball
well, but left too many runners on base to be successful. Jake
Bailey was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI’s. All his RBI’s
came on a 6th inning 3 run homer. Jud Strong also hit a solo
home run in the 7th inning, but it was a little too late. Chris
Glab was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. Connor Moutvic
was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and a stolen base.

Lake Forest ran into a very good Stevenson pitcher today. Lake
Forest could get only 5 hits. Chris Glab got the lone RBI
for Lake Forest on a 5th inning base hit. Jon Grum pitched
4 innings giving up 2 earned runs. Christian Martin pitched
the final 2 scoreless innings striking out 2 hitters and giving
up only 1 hit.

Lake Forest 4 - Stevenson 2
Lake Forest got another big conference win today. Lake
Forest got another outstanding pitching performance from Billy
Laing. Billy pitched a complete game--giving up 0 earned
runs and striking out 8 hitters. Offensively, Lake Forest
did the little things to get the job done. Jake Bailey,
1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI, started the game off with
a single, stole second base, moved to third on Connor Moutvic’s
ground ball and scored on another ground ball. The bottom
of the 4th inning was the big inning for Lake Forest. Jud
Strong, 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 walk, reached base on an error
and moved to third on a double by Marc Corigliano, 1 for 3 with
1 run. Jon Grum, 1 for 3, with 1 run scored and 1 RBI,
hit a line drive base hit through a drawn- in infield to score
Jud Strong and move Marc Corigliano to third base. With
one out and runners on first and third, Jake Bailey laid down
a perfect squeeze bunt driving in Marc Corigliano, and reached
first on a throwing error. Connor Moutvic followed that
up with a double to drive in the 3rd run of the inning. Billy
Laing made the lead stay for the rest of the game giving the
Scouts a big conference victory.

Lake Forest JV 2- Prospect 5
Lake Forest never recovered from the heartbreaking game
one loss. Lake Forest could not get any offense going. Christian
Martin led the way offensively, going 3 for 4. Max Moore
was 1 for 2 with a walk and a hit by pitch. Tim Zage was
1 for 2 with 2 walks. Kevin Friedman pitched 4 innings
giving up only 1 hit.

Lake Forest 10 - Prospect 11
Lake Forest lost a heartbreaker today. The game
started great as Connor Moutvic 1 for 5, 1 run scored, singled
and then Chris Glab 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs, and
Jake Bailey 2 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 2 walks, hit
back-to-back home runs. Jud Strong was 3 for 4 with 1 run
scored and 3 RBIs. Lake Forest took a 2-run lead into the
bottom of the 7th inning, but Prospect hit a 2-run homerun to
tie the game and then scored the winning run on a 1-out double.

Lake Forest won another big conference game today. Jon
Grum was the winning pitcher going 6 innings and striking out
5 hitters. Lake Forest was led by Connor Moutvic who went
2 for 5 with 2 runs scored, 4 RBI’s. All 4 RBI’s
came on a grand slam to left in the top of the 5th inning. Jud
Strong was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI’s. Marc
Corigliano and Beau Dobbins each went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored
and 1 RBI. Lake Forest put Warren away with a 9 run 5th
inning.

Lake Forest won a very big game today. Lake Forest
pitcher Billy Laing, pitched a complete game with 4 strike outs
and giving up 2 earned runs to get the win. Ryan Konsler
led the way offensively for Lake Forest going 2 for 3 with 2
runs scored, 2 RBIs, 1 double and 1 home run. Marc Corigliano
was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.

Lake Forest could not do much correct today. Lake
Forest only got 4 hits, and the pitchers walked 8 Mundelein hitters
and hit 3 Mundelein hitters. Connor Moutvic scored the

Lake Forest could not recover from an 8-run 3rd inning that Notre
Dame had. Jon Grum was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Ryan Konsler
was 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored, Beau Dobbins was 2 for 4 with 2
RBI’s, and Chris Glab was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Lake
Forest did not quit when they were down 10-1. They battled
back that next half inning getting 3 runs to cut the lead to 10-4,
but they could not get much closer.

Lake Forest 4 - Lakes 5
Lake Forest played its second consecutive 8 inning game. This
time they came up on the losing end. Jake Bailey led the
Scouts offensively, going 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and a walk. Chris
Glab was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and Ryan Konsler was 2 for
4 with 1 RBI. Jon Grum pitched a complete game giving up
3 earned runs and striking out 4 hitters. Lake Forest
was down 1 run going into the top of the 7th inning. Jake
Bailey started the inning off with a base hit and stole second
base. After a strike out, Ryan Konsler got a base hit to
put runners on 1st and 3rd. After another strike out, Jake
Bailey scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Unfortunately,
Lakes won the game in the bottom of the 8th inning on a single
up the middle.
04/22/09
Lake Forest 1 - Warren 0
This was an amazing baseball game that Lake Forest won
in 8 innings. Both Lake Forest and Warren pitched and played
defense superbly. Billy Laing pitched 7 scoreless
innings--giving up 5 hits and striking out 5 hitters. Warren’s
pitcher matched Billy pitch for pitch. The game was tied
0 – 0 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Lake Forest
had the bases loaded with 2 outs and Jon Grum was coming up. Jon
was not able to get the big hit, but he ended up saving the game
for Lake Forest in the next half inning. With Spencer Rahn
pitching, Warren was able to get a man on second with 1 out. The
next hitter hit a pop fly foul over first base, and Connor Moutvic
made a great over the shoulder catch. The runner on second
tagged and went to third with 2 outs. After a walk, the
next hitter hit a line drive that was headed for the right center
gap. That is when Jon Grum made a fully extended diving
catch to keep the score tied 0-0. The bottom of the 8th
inning started with Ryan Konsler’s lead off bunt for a
base hit down the third base line. The throw went
into right field, so Lake Forest had the winning run on 2nd base
and no outs. Warren intentionally walked Beau Dobbins,
and Jud Strong laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to put runners
on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Warren intentionally walked
Marc Corigliano to load the bases. Graham Wolff came up
next and on the second pitch, he laid down a perfect suicide-squeeze
bunt bringing home Ryan Konsler to give Lake Forest a 1-0 victory
over Warren in 8 innings.

Lake Forest 9 - Glenbrook North 2
Lake Forest’s offense really exploded today. They put
the game away after a 5-run 3rd inning. Marc Corigliano was
2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, 2 doubles, and 1 RBI. Beau Dobbins
also had a 2-run triple in the 3rd inning. Connor Moutvic
was 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. Chris Glab pitched
6 innings--striking out 7 hitters to get the win.
Lake Forest JV 12 - Glenbrook North 5
Lake Forest’s offense continued to click in the
second game of the double header. Ben Yakmalian was 3 for
4 with 4 runs scored and 1 RBI. Justin Mulhearn was 3 for
4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Christian Martin was 3 for
3 with 2 RBI’s and a double. Will Frain was 1 for 3
with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s. Connor Moutvic was
2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored. Kevin Friedman
pitched 3 scoreless innings--giving up 2 hits and had 3 strike
outs to get the win for Lake Forest.

Lake Forest 3 - Highland Park 8
Lake Forest ran into a really tough Highland Park team. Highland
Park took control of the game early and never looked back. Lake
Forest’s offense could manage only 2 hits. One of the
hits was a 2-run triple by Graham Wolff. Highland Park took
advantage of some timely hitting to beat Lake Forest pretty easily.

Lake Forest 12 - Round Lake 2
Lake Forest scored 12 runs on 6 hits and 6 walks. Jake Bailey
and Jon Grum each scored 3 runs . Beau Dobbins also was 2
for 4 with 3 RBI’s. Justin Mulhearn hit a pinch-hit
2-run homerun over the left field wall. Spencer Rahn pitched
5 innings--giving up 2 runs on 4 hits to get the win. He
also had 6 strikeouts. Will Frain pitched the last inning,
striking out 2 hitters. Lake Forest ended the game by the
10-run rule in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Lake Forest 1 - Libertyville 2
Lake Forest got a great pitching performance from Billy Laing. He
pitched a complete game giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Only
1 of the runs was earned. Billy also had 4 strike outs. Unfortunately
for Lake Forest, they ran into a tough pitcher from Libertyville. The
Scouts did have opportunities, but did not capitalize. Lake
Forest loaded the bases in the first inning on back-to-back singles
by Jon Grum and Ryan Konsler and a walk to Beau Dobbins. Unfortunately,
they could not get a run in. Lake Forest did score a run
in the 5th inning when Graham Wolff led off with a single and came
around to score on a ground out.

Lake Forest 9 - Rolling Meadows 8
Lake Forest could never quite put Rolling Meadows away. Lake
Forest had the lead the entire game, but every time they would
extend the lead Rolling Meadows would fight back. Lake Forest
was led offensively by Beau Dobbins. He was 2 for 3 with
a grand slam home run, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI’s. Jake
Bailey added 3 hits, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Marc
Corigliano was 2 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Chris
Glab pitched 4 innings giving up 1 run and striking out 5 hitters.
Lake Forest 5 - Rolling Meadows 3
Lake Forest won the Junior Varsity game to complete the sweep of the
double header against Rolling Meadows. Ben Yakmalian was 2 for 4 with
2 runs scored and Tim Zage was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Kevin
Friedman started the game for Lake Forest and pitched 3 strong innings striking
out 4 hitters and giving up 3 runs. Max Moore came on in relief and earned
the win for Lake Forest. He pitched 3 scoreless innings striking out
5 hitters and giving up zero hits. Will Frain pitched the 7th inning
to earn the save. He struck out 1 hitter and did not give up a hit.

Lake Forest 6 - Niles West 0
Lake Forest scored 2 runs in the 4th, 3 runs in the 5th, and added
1 more run in the 6th inning. They were led offensively by
Jake Bailey--who was 2 for 4 with a double, a stolen base and 2
runs scored. Ryan Konsler also led the attack going 2 for
3 with a triple, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, and a walk. Defensively,
John Grum picked up the win by pitching 5 scoreless innings--allowing
only 3 hits and striking out 4 hitters. Christian Martin
closed the game by pitching 2 scoreless innings and striking out
6 hitters. Lake Forest improved to 3-2 on the season.

Lake Forest 1 - Libertyville 6
Lake Forest ran into a really good pitcher from Libertyville. Lake
Forest pitchers did a nice job on their own. Billy Laing
started the game and pitched 3 innings and struck out 8 batters. Spencer
Rahn followed up with 3 innings, and struck out 4 batters. Jon
Grum pitched the final inning and struck out 2 hitters. Lake
Forest pitchers pitched 7 innings and struck out 14 Libertyville
batters. Unfortunately, the offense could not get it going
all day. Jon Grum did start the game in the 1st inning with
a triple and scored on a ground out by Chris Glab. That was
all the offense Lake Forest had.

Lake Forest 7 - Normal 13
Lake Forest ran into a solid Normal squad, but the game was a lot
closer than the score indicates. Normal was winning 7 to 6 going
into the bottom of the 6th inning when they exploded for 6 more
runs. Graham Wolff led the Lake Forest offense by going 1
for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s. His one hit was
a long homerun over the left center fence. Marc Corigliano
added a key double in the first inning with 2 outs to drive in
the game’s first run.

Lake Forest was led offensively by Connor Moutvic, who had 4 hits,
1 run scored and 1 RBI. Tim Zage also was 1 for 1 with 2
runs scored and 3 RBI’s, and Jake Bailey was 2 for 3 with
2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Ryan Konsler was 1 for 3 with 3
runs scored and 1 RBI. Spencer Rahn pitched 3 scoreless
innings with 4 strike outs to earn the win for Lake Forest. Christian
Martin also pitched 1 and 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball with
2 strikeouts.

Lake Forest was led by two great pitching performances from Billy
Laing and Graham Wolff. They each struck out 5 hitters
and did not give up an earned run. Billy Laing was also 2
for 2 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Connor Moutvic added
2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Beau Dobbins was 1 for 2 with three
runs scored.
