05/19/10
Lake Forest 13 - Grant 3
The Scouts played their final home game of the 2010 season and went out with style as they beat Grant 13-3.  Henry Wolff picked up the win, striking out 7 in 4 innings and giving up only 1 hit.  Jack Newtown threw 2 effective innings.  Alex Ehrens had 4 RBI, Ryan Ganshirt was 3-3 with 4 runs scored, Jordan Beck had 2 RBI, Matt Lawrence had a triple, and Brandon Moccia was 1-2 with a double and an RBI.  Congratulations to Zach Lucas, who was promoted to the varsity for the State Tournament.  Good luck, Zach!!

The Scouts close out their season Friday with a game at Deerfield.

Lake Forest 8 - Libertyville 9

The Scouts traveled to Libertyville on Tuesday in an attempt to sweep the Wildcats.  Unfortunately, they could not hold a big early lead and lost 9-8.  Zach Lucas was 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Jordan Beck was 3-4 with 2 RBI, Jack Newtown was 2-4, and Matt Lawrence was 1-3, 3 RBI and his second home run of the season, a 375-foot blast to left center.

Lake Forest closes out its home schedule today with a game against Grant.

Lake Forest 2 - Libertyville 1

The Scouts won a thriller Monday, beating Libertyville 2-1 on a walk-off double by Henry Wolff.  The Scouts were held hitless for the first 6 innings, yet still led 1-0 going into the top of the seventh.  The Wildcats tied it, but that only set up Wolff’s heroics.  Jordan Beck led off the bottom of the seventh with an infield single.  Wolff followed with a deep drive into the right field gap that scored Beck from first.  Owen Williams earned the win in relief of Collin Christensen, both of whom pitched extremely well.

Lake Forest travels to Libertyville today to finish up Conference play.

Lake Forest 3 - Warren 11

After a week of wash-outs, the Scouts finally got to play Warren on Friday, and the wait paid off.  John Muscarello threw a gem; he struck out 12 and gave up 2 hits and no earned runs.  Matt Lawrence led the offense, going 2-3 with a home run and a double.  Alex Ehrens, Jordan Beck, and Jack Newtown all added 2 hits.

The Scouts went for the sweep of Warren on Saturday but fell behind early and could not rally in losing 11-3.  Lake Forest only managed 7 hits in the game--all singles.  No player collected more than 1 hit.

The Scouts host Libertyville on Monday as they begin the last week of the season.

Lake Forest 10 - Kenosha Bradford 8

Lake Forest traveled north of the border to take on Kenosha Bradford on Saturday.  Powered by a 9-run 4th inning, the Scouts won 10-8.  Chris Kalmar was one of four pitchers, and he picked up the win.  Owen Williams finished off the game with a strike out with the winning run at the plate.  Matt Lawrence had 4 hits including a double.  Brandon Moccia was 2-3 (2B), and Max Richter had 3 RBI.

Lake Forest 7 - Glenbrook South 4

On Friday, the Scouts hosted the Titans of Glenbrook South and won 7-4. Collin Christensen got the win, throwing 5 2/3 innings. He struck out 2 and gave up no earned runs. Alex Athenson picked up the save. Offensively, Zach Lucas was 2-4 with an RBI, Alex Ehrens was 2-4 with a double, Matt Lawrence was 2-3, Brandon Moccia was 2-2 with a double and 2 RBI, and Brian Raymond was 2-3 with a double. Lake Forest travels across the border on Saturday to take on Kenosha Bradford.

Lake Forest 18 - Zion Benton 4

Zion Benton came to Lake Forest on Wednesday with revenge on its mind, but the Scouts made sure that didn't happen as they won 18-4. Chris Kalmar picked up the win while giving up 5 hits and striking out 3. Zach Lucas was 2-3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Alex Ehrens added 2 hits. Matt Lawrence was 2-2 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Kalmar helped himself with a 2-2 day. Jordan Beck was 3-4 with a bases-clearing double and 4 total RBI, and Brian Raymond had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Lake Forest 13 - Zion Benton 1

The Sophomores visited Zion Benton on Tuesday and came away with a 13-1 victory.  John Muscarello threw a complete game, walking no one and striking out 6.  The middle of the Scouts line up provided almost all of the offense.  Alex Ehrens had 2 hits and 2 RBI.  Matt Lawrence had 2 hits and scored 4 runs.  Chris Kalmar was 4-4 with a double, triple, and 6 RBI.  Jordan Beck had 3 hits (2B,3B) and 4 RBI.

Lake Forest hosts Zion Benton on Wednesday.

Lake Forest 11 - Prospect 3

In finishing off a week in which they played 6 games in 6 days, Lake Forest traveled to Prospect on Saturday.  This time, their offense went with them in the 11-3 victory.  Zach Lucas was 3-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Chris Kalmar was 3-3 with 3 RBI.  Jordan Beck had 2 hits including a double.  Henry Wolff had 2 hits and an RBI, and Brian Raymond was 4-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.  John Muscarello, Kalmar, Jack Newtown, Raymond, and Owen Williams combined to shut down Prospect with Kalmar getting the win.

After the first game, the Scouts played a 5-inning second game and the highlight of that game was the outstanding base running of Connor Glynn who scored a run with his aggressive play.

Lake Forest 2 - Wauconda 4

The Scouts wished they could have saved some of their runs from Thursday as they traveled to Wauconda on Friday. After a lead-off home run by Zach Lucas and a RBI double by Chris Kalmar in the top of the first, the bats went quiet, and Lake Forest wasted a strong pitching performance by Collin Christensen in losing 4-2. Henry Wolff did go 2-2.

Lake Forest 27 - Carmel 19

On a windy and warm Thursday, the Scouts traveled to Carmel to take on the Corsairs. The final result resembled a football score as Lake Forest won a wild 27-19 game. Brian Raymond picked up the win in relief and Jack Newtown pitched effectively as well. There were many offensive leaders. Zach Lucas was 4-6 with 4 runs scored and 2 triples. Newtown had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Matt Lawrence was 2-4 with a triple. Chris Kalmar had 2 hits, including a double and 2 RBI. Henry Wolff had 2 hits with a double. Brandon Moccia had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Ryan Ganshirt was 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. The Scouts hope the offense continues to shine as they travel to Wauconda on Friday.

Lake Forest 10 - Lake Zurich 9
The Scouts gained revenge against Lake Zurich Wednesday winning a back and forth affair by a 10-9 score. Chris Kalmar got the win, Alex Athenson the hold, and Owen Williams the save. Lake Forest tallied 14 hits, led by Zach Lucas, Kalmar, Jordan Beck (2B,3B,3 RBI)), Henry Wolff (2B), and Brian Raymond (2B,2 RBI))--all of whom had 2 hits apiece. Matt Lawrence scored 4 runs. Lake Forest travels to Carmel Thursday.

Lake Forests 11 - Lake Zurich 13

The sophomores were gracious hosts on Tuesday as their defense let them down in a 13-11 loss to Lake Zurich. John Muscarello, Jack Newtown, and Alex Athenson did not give up an earned run. The Scouts were down 9-0 early but battled back and had the winning run on base in the 7th inning. Unfortunately, a ground out ended the rally. Zach Lucas was 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Alex Ehrens had 2 hits. Matt Lawrence was a home run shy of a cycle, and he drove in 4 runs. Athenson also added a 2-run triple. The Scouts travel to Lake Zurich Wednesday for a rematch with the Bears.

Lake Forest 3 - New Trier 11

The sophomores traveled to New Trier on Monday and suffered an 11-3 loss.  The Scouts could only muster 3 hits.  Zach Lucas, Chris Kalmar, and John Muscarello provided the hits.  Lucas had 2 runs and Muscarello scored the other.  The lone bright spot for Lake Forest was the stellar team defense.  They are back to conference action today as they host Lake Zurich.

Lake Forest 11 - Antioch 3
On Friday, Lake Forest hosted Antioch and emerged with an 11-3 win. Brian Raymond picked up the win, throwing 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. He also had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Zach Lucas was 2-3 with 3 runs scored and 5 stolen bases. Alex Ehrens had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Jordan Beck had 2 RBI and Chris Kalmar chipped in with 2 hits. Owen Williams had a triple and stepped up and did an outstanding job as the emergency catcher for the game.

Lake Forest 6 - Stevenson 17

The Scouts hosted Stevenson on a raw day, hoping to complete the season sweep.  Lake Forest jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but could not hold on and wound up losing 17-6.  Zach Lucas was the offensive star as he went 3-4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI.  Brandon Moccia added 3 RBI.  The Scouts host Antioch on Friday and Waukegan on Saturday

Lake Forest 10 - Stevenson 3

The sophomores traveled to Stevenson on Tuesday and played their best game of the year, winning 10-3.  John Muscarello threw a complete game.  He gave up 5 hits, walked no one, and struck out 3.  Offensively, Matt Lawrence and Henry Wolff each had 2 RBI.  Chris Kalmar and Jordan Beck also contributed to the team’s offensive production.

Lake Forest 13 - Glenbrook North 19
On a blustery Saturday, Lake Forest hosted Glenbrook North and was on the short end of a 19-13 score. The defense struggled, but the offense didn’t. Zach Lucas was 2-3 with 4 runs scored. Alex Ehrens, Matt Lawrence (4 RBI), Chris Kalmar, and Henry Wolff also had 2 hits each.

Lake Forest 14 - Lakes 8

On Friday, the Scouts traveled to Lakes to take on the Eagles.  After a sluggish start, Lake Forest got its offense in gear and pulled away to a 14-8 victory.  Jack Newtown pitched 3 effective innings in relief to get the win.   Matt Lawrence was 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI.  Chris Kalmar, Jordan Beck, and Max Richter each had 2 hits.  Ryan Ganshirt added a 2-run triple.

Lake Forest 0 - Mundelein 10

Lake Forest traveled to Mundelein Tuesday to open up its conference schedule.  The Scouts could not get anything going offensively and lost 10-0.  Zach Lucas and Jordan Beck had the only two hits.  The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at Lake Forest.

Lake Forest 7 - Highland Park 3

The Scouts hosted Highland Park on Monday and came away with a well-played 7-3 victory.  Collin Christensen threw 5+ solid innings and Jack Newtown finished the game and earned the save.  Offensively,  Matt Lawrence had 2 RBI, Owen Williams was 2-2 with a  double, and Zach Lucas was 1-2 with a double and RBI.  Jordan Beck added an important 2-run single

04/10/10 (Double Header)
Lake Forest 4 - Rolling Meadows 6
On Saturday, the Scouts traveled to Rolling Meadows and came away with a split of their doubleheader.  Lake Forest lost the first game 6-4. They just could not get untracked offensively and squandered opportunities to take the lead.
Lake Forest 10 - Rolling Meadows 5
The Scouts bounced back in the second game and won 10-5.  Zach Lucas was 2-2 with a double and 3 runs scored.  Henry Wolff was 3-3 with 3 RBI and a double.  John Muscarello had 3 doubles and 2 RBI, and Ryan Ganshirt added a double and an RBI. Henry Wolff, Collin Christensen, Alex Athenson, and Owen Williams all pitched well in leading the Scouts to victory.

04/09/10
Lake Forest 20 - Niles West 4

On Friday, the Scouts opened up their season with a 20-4 victory over the visiting Wolves from Niles West. After spotting Niles West four runs in the top of the first,  the Scouts came roaring back--scoring 12 runs, highlighted by Alex Ehrens 2-run single and Brian Raymond's 2-run double. Zach Lucas was 2-2 with 3 runs scored. Also collecting 2 hits were Matt Lawrence, Henry Wolff, and Jordan BeckJohn Muscarello picked up the win, giving up no earned runs in his 3 innings of work. Alex Athenson struck out 3 Wolves in his 2 innings on the mound
