Head, Boys' Varsity Basketball
Coach LaScala has been Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Lake Forest since 2006. Phil has coached both at the high school and collegiate levels. He was an assistant coach at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL under Head Coach Keith Bunkenburg. Benedictine was 21-7 and nationally ranked in the top 20 throughout the season. He also was an assistant for his father at Benedictine University in 1994 and 1995. Phil served as an assistant at Mt. Carmel High School for seven years. He played high school basketball at Benet Academy. He was captain of his team senior year. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University and received his MBA from Benedictine University. He teaches Business Education classes at Lake Forest High School. Phil, his wife Stacey, and son Jake reside on the North Side of Chicago.

Joe Harmsen

Assistant, Boys' Varsity Basketball
Coach Harmsen has been coaching varsity basketball since 2000. Joe is a Fond du lac, Wisconsin native. Joe was a top 100 recruit coming out of high school. He played his college basketball at Northwestern University under Ricky Birdsong and Kevin O’Neil. Joe coached at the collegiate level for the last four years. He worked recently at the University of Dayton as Graduate Assistant where he developed the Flyers interior players. He was also an assistant coach at Concordia University Chicago for three years. Joe is married to Maggie Ross Harmsen and resides in Pleasant Prairie, WI. He received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and his Master's in Secondary Education from Concordia University Chicago. Coach Harmsen teaches in the Special Education Department at LFHS.

Darren Barndt

Head, Boys' Sophomore Basketball
Darren Barndt began his coaching career in southern Illinois. He played baseball for two years at Lincoln Trail Junior College. He transferred to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he began his basketball career by working as a manager for the men's' basketball team. He coached two years at East Richland (Olney) High School and was the varsity basketball coach at Kansas High School, Kansas, IL, for two years. At Lake Forest, Coach Barndt has worked at the Freshmen, Sophomore and Varsity levels as an assistant. He received his Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and his Master's From Roosevelt University. Darren teaches in the Technology Department at LFHS.

Chris Faggi

Assistant, Boys' Sophomore Basketball
Chris Faggi has coached Sophomore basketball since 1995. He is a graduate of McNeese State University (Lake Charles, LA). Coach Faggi went to Loyola High School in Wilmette. Chris has been coaching at different levels in the Lake Forest program. He played in the NBA and overseas for 10 years. Chris works with the post players and has a great knowledge for the game. He lives in Lincolnshire with his wife, Lynn.

Adam Mocogni

Head, Boys' Freshman Coach
2012 marks Coach Mocogni's first year as Head Freshman Coach at Lake Forest High School after having been the Assistant Freshmen Coach for a year. Prior to this, he has been assisting with the Scout summer basketball program. Adam is a 2007 graduate of LFHS and played varsity basketball for the Scouts. Coach Mocogni received his Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education---Math from Indiana University. He is a student supervisor at LFHS. Coach LaScala adds, "Adam is a great addition to our coaching staff!"

Steve Johnson

Assistant, Boys' Freshman Coach
Coach Johnson has been a Freshman coach at LFHS since 2010. Steve is a graduate of Bethel College in Minnesota. He played basketball for four years at Bethel. Steve brings some excellent coaching experience to our program. He coached as an assistant at Lake Zurich high school for 5 years. He looks forward to working with young players in our program and making sure they are given the fundamentals to insure they can get the most out of their ability. Steve works as the Department Chair of our Special Education Department. He is married and has 5 daughters.

Austin Scott

2012-13 marks Coach Scott's first season on the coaching staff at LFHS. Prior to coming to Lake Forest, he has worked on the basketball staff at both Highland Park High School and Grayslake Central High School. As a player, Austin is a graduate of Lake Zurich High School, where he led Lake County in scoring and was awarded 3rd team All-State Honors during his senior season of 2006. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and earned four letters as a member of the varsity basketball team while earning his degree in English Education. He currently teaches in the LFHS English Department.

Coach O'Connor-Brooks has been a member of the basketball coaching staff at LFHS since 2011. He is a 2006 graduate of LFHS and 2010 graduate of the University of Iowa. He is a Special Education Aide at LFHS.
