CONGRATS to Billy Bund who placed 5th at the IHSA State Finals.  Billy’s time of 14:17 sets a school record for the fastest time run at the state meet.  Billy is the first All-State runner for the Scouts since Jim Gibson in 1985.

10/20/12--Regional Meet
Congratulations to the Boys' Cross Country team for their team Sectional qualifying performance at this past Saturday’s Libertyville IHSA Regional.  Led by the 2012 Regional Champion Billy Bund (15:20), the boys finished 7th to move forward to the IHSA Sectional this Saturday at Busse Woods in Schaumburg.  Other members of the team are Liam Gayter (28th – 16:46), Sean Jones (32nd – 16:51), Mark Myers (35th – 16:53), Matthew Mekaelian (55th – 17:42), Matthew Buddell (56th – 14:47) and Jack Stride (59th – 18:31).  Good Luck Scouts!!

10/13/12--NSC Conference Meet
Congratulations to Billy Bund for his NSC Conference Championship this past Saturday at Fox River Park
In a race that was well executed, Billy completed the course in a time of 15:30, one of the historical top 5 times ever run on the course.  As a team, the Scouts finished 8th in the 14-team meet.  The other Varsity members were: Liam Gayter (31st), Sean Jones (34th), Mark Myers (49th), Matthew Buddell (59th), Matthew Mekaelian (78th) and Mark Benson (79th).

09/24/12 - Dual Meet Vs. Lake Zurich
On Monday the Scouts returned for the third time this season to Lakewood.  This time for a dual with Lake Zurich.  Of the 12 athletes that have run the new course this season 9 had course pr’s.  They are; Mark Benson (-25 sec), Matthew Buddell (-17 sec), Tim Dugan (-04), Sean Jones (-14), Frank Theodore (-1:13), Jimmy Nolan (-01), Zach Streightiff (-14) and both Matt Goodman and Sam Grum where -1:24.  In addition, Richard Faller ran his first race under 21 minutes.  The race was won by Billy Bund in a comfortable 15:56 (approx) for the 3 mile course.  It has been nice seeing the improvement coming in big chunks!

09/22/12 - Palatine Invite
On Saturday, Sept. 22, the Scouts participated in the prestigious Palatine Invite.  The Scouts had 14 members of the squad run course personal records.  In the varsity race Billy Bund our lone medalist PR’d by 38 seconds to finish 8th overall in a time of 15:00.4, Sean Jones ran 16:29 for a 34 second pr, Liam Gayter ran 16:35 for a 32 second pr, Matthew Buddell ran 17:31 for a 49 second pr, Mark Benson ran 17:40 for an 18 second pr, and Patrick Eckland ran 18:28 for a 1:52 pr.  At the Sophomore and Open levels we had Matthew Mekaelian run 18:08 for a 1:36 pr, Zach Streightiff ran 18:14 for a 1:08 pr, Sam Grum ran 18:43 for a 50 second pr, Frank Theodore ran 18:40 for a 37 second pr, Eric Asmussen ran 20:32 for a 1:14 pr, Sam Frost ran 21:23 for a 28 second pr, Jack Sanders ran 22:49 for a 1:14 pr and Matt Goodman ran ran 20:46 for an incredible 3:08 pr!  The Scouts also had three athletes break time barriers; Alex Guest and Grant Levin broke 19 minutes, Brian McKeon broke 20 minutes and Teddy Nicewick broke 21 minutes.  Congrats to all!

09/10/12 - Warren and Mundelein Duals

The Scouts lost to Warren 18 – 45 and Mundelein 21 – 34 in conference dual-meet competition.  It was not the start we were hoping for, but there were some outstanding results.  Sean Jones ran a season best 16:30 and Mark Benson and Tim Dugan each broke the 18- minute barrier for the first time this season.  Finishing fifth for the Scouts was freshman Mark Myers with a time of 17:48 in his first 3-mile race.  Many runners got to race 3 miles for the first time this season with more to come this weekend in split-squad competition.

09/08/12
The Scouts placed 17th in the 22-team meet.
  They were led by Liam Gayter with his 33rd place finish in a time of 16:38, which was good for a 1 minute PR on that course.  Sean Jones was the Scouts second finisher in 58th, and Owen Platt finished 110th.  Rounding out the scoring was Matthew Buddell and Tim Dugan, who finished 119 and 120 respectively.  All guys who raced ran a course PR!

09/04/12

The Scouts hosted Round Lake in a cross-over NSC dual at the West Campus Course.  Under a limited roster, the Scouts battled tough with Round Lake in a 27-28 loss.  The Scouts where led by Liam Gayter and Sean Jones who finished 3rd and 4th respectively.  Mark Benson, Matthew Buddell, and first-time varsity runner Zach Streightiff rounded out the scoring members finishing 6th, 7th, and 8th.  The Scouts, again with a limited roster, will compete at the Wauconda Invite on Saturday the 8th.

08/29/12
The Scouts opened the season at The Art Campbell Lake County Meet at Lakewood on Wednesday.  The Scouts finished 11th of 16 teams with an average time 18:14.  Leading the Scouts was Liam Gayter (31st) and Sean Jones (35th).  They were followed by hard charging Mark Benson (72nd), Owen Platt (86th), and Tim Dugan (100th) to round out the scoring  members with 288 points.  Also racing and contributing members were Matthew Buddell (105th) and Frank Theodore (120st).  The Scouts open the Conference schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 4, with a home dual against Round Lake who place 10th at the County meet and should give the Scouts a good battle.
