Chuck Spagnoli

Head, Boys' Varsity Football


Coach Spagnoli became a Varsity coach in 1983 and has been LF's Varsity coach since 2003. Previously, he coached teams at Carthage College, University of Evansville, DeLaSalle Institute and Niles West High School. Chuck received his BS in Industrial Technology Education from ISU and his MS in Physical Education from Chicago State University. He teaches in the Technology Ed./Wellness Departments at LFHS.

Coach Magna has been coaching football at LF since 2009. Previously, he was a student coach at Dakota State University and a graduate assistant coach at Missouri Valley College. Coach Magna received his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Dakota State University and his MSE in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University. He is a para pro at LFHS.

Coach DeWald has been an assistant Varsity/Sophomore coach at LF since 2009. He has coached for 23 years. Coach DeWald received his Bachelor's degree in History Ed. and an ME from Northeastern Illinois University. He is a Chicago fireman.

Coach Lilja has been an assistant Varsity/Sophomore coach at LFHS since 2011. Prior to this, he coached for 32 years at Northwestern University. Coach Lilja received his Bachelor's degree in Education and Economics from Northwestern University.

Coach Joyce has been assistant Sophomore coach at LF since 2006. Previously, he had coached for 16 years either as a Varsity Assistant, Sophomore Assistant or Freshman Assistant football coach at Notre Dame High School, Mather High School and St. Patrick High School. He has a BS in Physical Education from Northeastern Illinois University and works as a Chicago firefighter

Coach Peterson has been an assistant Varsity/Sophomore coach at LFHS since 2011. Previously, he coached football at North Chicago High School and wrestling at Lake Forest High School. He received his Bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University and is currently working on his Master's degree from National Louis University. Coach Peterson teaches 4th/5th grade in North Chicago.

2012 marks Coach Soprych's return as an assistant Varsity/Sophomore coach at LFHS. Previous coaching includes: Offensive line coach at North Park U. (1999-2000); Offensive line coach/coordinator at St. Patrick HS (2001-2009); Offensive line coach at LFHS (2010); Wide receiver/offense coordinator at Mather HS (2011). Coach Soprych received a BA in Political Science from North Park University. He teaches in the Wellness Department at LFHS.

2012 marks Coach Busse's first year as Assistant Varsity/Sophomore coach at LFHS. In 2010, he coached Soph/Varsity football at Libertyville High School, and in 2011, he coached Varsity football & track at Schaumburg High School. Coach Busse received his Bachelor's degree from Carthage College. He is a long-term Health sub at LFHS.

Coach Lesniak has been head Freshmen football coach since 2009. Prior coaching experience includes six years as assistant Varsity and Sophomore coach and one year as assistant Freshmen coach at Lake Forest in addition to a year as Sophomore assistant at Hersey High School. Frank received his BA in Special Education from ISU and his MA in Educational Leadership from National Louis University. He teaches in the Special Education Department at Lake Forest HS.

Coach Miller received his Bachelor's degree in Secondary Physical Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master's degree from Chicago State. He teaches Wellness at Deerpath Middle School.

Prior to this year, he coached football for 2 years at Loras College, 4 years at Lake Forest High School and 1 year at Mundelein High School. Coach Carney received his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Health and his Master's degree in Athletic Administration from Loras College. He teaches in the Wellness Department in Lake Forest District 67.
