Zion started the game with the ball and drove the length of the field to take an 8-0 lead.  The Scouts offense came right back as Jack Traynor took one in for a touchdown on a 4-yard run.  The 1st quarter ended with a 8-7 Zion lead.  In the second quarter, both defenses held and the score remained 8-7 Zion at halftime.

Lake Forest would strike first in the 2nd half.  On a 4th and 8 play, Lake Forest quarterback Evan Boudreaux hit Tommy Trkla to keep the drive going.  Boudreaux then capped off the drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Noah Karras.  The Scouts now led 14-8.  The lead was short lived as Zion drove down and scored another touchdown.  This time the 2-point conversion failed, so the score was 14-14.  Wesley Janeck capped off the 3rd quarter with a 32-yard touchdown run to give LF a 21-14 lead going into the 4th quarter.  In the 4th quarter, Zion took the lead back on a long touchdown run and a 2-point conversion, giving Zion a 22-21 lead.  Both defenses would hold each other one more time with Lake Forest stopping Zion on a fake punt with less than 3 minutes to go in the game.  Lake Forest started their game-winning drive from the Zion 48-yard line.  On a 3rd and 7 play, Janeck picked up a hard-fought first down to keep the drive going.  On the very next play, Boudreaux hit Karras for a 37-yard touchdown pass to give the Scouts a 27-22 lead.  Lake Forest’s defense held Zion on the final drive......giving the Scouts a hard-fought victory.
