Hope For Haiti:
The Boys Swimming and Diving Team would like to donate enough money to purchase one Shelter Box for Haiti. (see below)

The LF/LB Rotary is taking the lead and all monies collected through the high school will channel to them.

The cost of a shelter box is $1000....if all 46 boys and 4 coaches donate $20 the team would be able to support one "shelter."
This is a project for the team to work together on!

Coach Cindy will be taking donations up until practice ends on Friday. We will also have a donation box at Senior Night in the stands Thursday. Any amount of donation is appreciated.....Checks can be made payable to LFHS with "Haiti" on the subject line.

We are hoping all boys will participate in some way....no donation is too small!!!

Shelter Box costs $1000 and contains the following:
•       A ten person tent
•      Vinyl insulated sleeping mats and lightweight thermal blanket
•      Multi-fueled cook stove
•      Eating utensils: enamel plates/cups
•      Water purification tablets
•      Other emergency survival equipment, e.g., rope, shovel

Lake Forest High School's JV Swimming and Diving team finished their season with a great third place finish last Friday, February 13 at Vernon Hills High School.  A good time was had by all, with some fantastic final swims for these boys that have worked so hard all season.

The varsity boys' team participated in conference on Saturday, February 14 at Stevenson High School.  Lake Forest High School finished a very respectable 2nd after winning all but three events.  LF divers gave a gallant effort in the morning and got good experience going into sectionals this weekend at Vernon Hills High School.  Our swimmers--paced by Mitch Stoehr and Mike Hoelterhoff who each won two individual events--competed hard at a tough time in the season.  LFHS started the meet with Mike Hoelterhoff, Michael Gannon, Mikey Davitt and Patrick Kaufmann winning the 200 medley relay with a season best time.  Mitch Stoehr won the 200 free in a pool record time, besting that of former LFHS swimmer Sammy Kintz, and Sheng Hu placed 3rd.  Mikey Davitt and Michael Gannon placed a respectable 2nd and 4th in the 200 IM and Michael Hoelterhoff followed that with a first place finish in the 50 free and Patrick Kaufmann an sixth place finish with a season best.

The team's success continued with Mikey Davitt placing 4th and freshman Bryan Bunning 8th in the 100 fly.  First place finishes continued with Mitch Stoehr in the 100 free, and Sheng Hu in the 500 free. Sophomore Davis Malone finished 3rd in the 500 free with a season best.  Lake Forest's 200 free relay was just touched out to finish 2nd in a season best time.  Michael Hoelterhoff continued his rash of 1st place finishes by winning the 100 back and Bryan Bunning finished 5th.  Our 400 Free Relay team consisting of Sheng Hu, Michael Hoelterhoff, Mikey Davitt and Mitch Stoehr, that is ranked 2nd in the state as of right now, finished in first place.

The Scouts are really looking forward to the upcoming weeks of competition.  LFHS participates in the sectional meet (state qualifying) on Saturday February 21, at Vernon Hills High School with diving starting at 9:00 a.m. and swimming starting at 1:00 p.m.

Boy's swimming and diving has been very busy the past few weeks - After finally being able to compete at home again, the SCOUTS posted victories against Stevenson, Evanson, Hinsdale Central and Warren.  Great swims were had by all!!

February 5 was the final dual meet of the season and Senior Night.  The Scouts won both JV and Varsity, and everyone had a lot of fun.  A new tradition was introduced: Each senior swimmer invited a teacher that has had a tremendous impact on him over the past four years at Lake Forest High School.  The athlete and the swimmer were introduced prior to the start of the meet.  Everyone was fortunate to hear Mr. Haskett, Director of Choirs, sing an unbelievable rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.  Mitch Stoehr, Michael Hoelterhoff, Mike Davitt, Michael Gannon, and Sheng Hu all had first place finishes at the varsity level.  Jason Thomson, Owen Chang, Mac Ross, Charlie Smith, and Thomas Remissong all had first place finishes at the JV level.  The seniors and their parents were introduced after diving, along with the Warren Seniors.  The final event of the evening was the annual parent/child relay.  This year's winning team was Kevin and Mitch Burns, who narrowly beat Jeff and Michael Gannon.

The next competition for the Scout swimmers  is on February 13 - JV Conference and February 14 - Varsity Conference.

01/17/09
On January 17th, our JV Scouts traveled to the St. Charles Invite where they raced hard after weeks of hard training.  The Varsity competed at the Trevian Relays at New Trier High School. The boys' swim team finished an intense two-week training period where they practiced twice daily during the Christmas break. On Saturday,  following practice, the boys were served a huge breakfast by a group of pancake, egg and bacon making dads.  It was a nice way to end the holiday training.  Left over bagels, oranges, pancake mix, syrup, butter and creme cheese was donated to PADS.

The boys' swimming and diving teams next competition is the Evanston Invite on Saturday, January 10, at Evanston High School.  The Evanston Invite features 18 of the premier teams in the state along with Arrowhead High School from Wisconsin.  Diving begins at 10:00 am and the swimming competition begins at 1:00 pm.

Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel meet summary
The Lake Forest High School Boy's Swim Team had a great day, winning the 2008 Metro Invite at Homestead High School in Mequon, WI.  Thirteen teams particpated in the invite and the Scouts came out victorious ahead of highly rated Arrowhead High School.  Mitch Stoehr set two meet records in the 500 free and the 1000 free.  The meet started with freshman Bryan Bunning placing second in the 400 IM.  The Scouts then recorded victories in the 200 Medley Relay, and the 200 Free Relay.  First place finishes by Sheng Hu in the 200 Free and Mike Hoelterhoff in the 50 Free were very exciting.  Sheng was second in the 1000 along with other second place finishes by Mikey Davitt in the 200 Fly and 500 free and Mike Hoelterhoff in the 200 backstroke.  Michael Gannon placed 4th in the 100 breast and 3rd in the 200 breast.  Other point scorers for the Scouts were Davis Malone, Derek Mohrmann, Arnett Shen, Mitch Burns, Patrick Kaufman, and Zack Telander.  This was truly a team effort and hard earned especially in the middle of Christmas training, where the boys are swimming twice a day during the entire Christmas break.
