The boys placed third at the Conference Championship meet
on Saturday. The day started off well for us when TJ Jackson jumped
a new personal best by over a foot (21-9.5) in
the long jump. It was his first jump, and it ended up winning the event. Soon
after that, our 4x100M relay of Eric Gerber, Andrew
Steinwold, Sam Howard and TJ Jackson broke
our school record for the second time this season with a 43.18. They're
looking to qualify for state next week and better that time again. PR's
were all over, as Henry Mynatt got season PR's in
the 3200 (9:31) and the 1600 (4:27). Sam Howard took
second in the 400 with a lifetime best 49.31, only one tenth away from our
school record, and in what our hurdles coach John Brumund-Smith called, "the
ugliest race he's seen all season," Andrew Steinwold got
a season PR in the 300M hurdles with a 39.66, well on his way to qualifying
for state. Andrew Farver had a lifetime PR of 2:00.04
in the 800M and will be an integral part of our 4x800M relays chances to qualify. The
Scouts had some downs, too, but with what we've seen from the team this season,
and the efforts we got on Saturday, we should be able to send a lot of guys
to Charleston next week.

Last night the boys captured third place
at the Lake County Championship Meet, despite being without
their top-ranked thrower and point scorer, Matt Miller. The
meet started off great with the 4x800M relay racing a
new season best by over 8 seconds, running 8:12. This
was followed by a third-place finish in the 4x100M relay. Anchor
leg TJ Jackson was experiencing some knee pain, so triple jumper Ryan
Miller filled in and ran a great race. Henry
Mynatt placed second in the two mile on
the windy, cold night, then returned to run a great time
in the 1600. Sam Howard and Andrew
Steinwold ran their way to County Championships
in the 400 and 300 hurdles, respectively--Howard winning
his race by almost two seconds. John-Michael Boyle
PR'd in the long jump with a 20'3.25 and placed second, while Ryan
Miller finished third in the triple
jump with a new season PR of 42'5. The 4x4
capped the night with a great race and a 3 second PR of 3:27. CLICK

The Frosh/Soph Conference meet is Thursday at
Lake Zurich, and we will be hosting the NSC Conference Championships
on Saturday, May 15, beginning at 10:00AM.
05/03/10
The day started off well with a win
by the 4x800 relay, led by Henry Mynatt’s 1:59
split, followed by a record-breaking 4x100 performance
by TJ Jackson, Andrew Steinwold, Sam Howard and Eric
Gerber with a time of 43.5. TJ also won the long
jump with a 20’4. Sam also won the 400M in 50.0 and Steinwold
won the 300M hurdles with a season PR of 39.9. Henry
Mynatt came back again to win the 800 with
a 2:01, followed closely by Andrew Farver
who PR’d for the season with a 2:02. On
the field side, an injured Matt Miller still won the shot
put, but did not compete in the discus. This gave junior Andrew
Shaw an opportunity to step up, which he did with a win in
the discus, throwing 128’6. Ryan
Miller won the Triple Jump and the trio of Chris
Stolzman, James Shockey and Nick Palermo swept the high jump. The
meet came down to the final event, the 4x400, where the team
of Steinwold, Click, Hargitt and Howard ran away with the win.
04/26/10
Lake Forest’s 4x100M
team of TJ Jackson, Andrew Steinwold, Sam Howard and Eric Gerber ran
a season PR of 43.7, only 0.1 off our school record. Henry
Mynatt also ran a season best 9:35 in the 3200M run. Andrew
Steinwold ran a new season PR of 40.1 in the 300M hurdles,
followed closely by new hurdle team recruit, Senior Kyle
Donovan (43.4). Ryan Crilly ran a
strong 4:51 mile and Taylor Click won the 800M in
2:03. On the Field side, TJ Jackson won the
Long Jump with a jump of 20’8.5, but scratched a much farther
jump. Ryan Miller won the Triple Jump with
a 41’3. Junior Matt Miller has been setting
season PR’s each meet, and yesterday was no different. He
won the shot put with a 51’9.5 (season PR is 53’3) and
then crushed his own discus best by throwing a 164’9, which
places him in the 9th ranked spot in the State.
