Lake Forest (Overall Record 10-13) places second at Libertyville Invite

Lake Forest started off slow in pool play, but a come-from-behind victory over host Libertyville took them into the championship game. The Scouts then lost to Prospect High School for the second time in the tournament. The second place came as a result of a 17-25, 25-21, 11-25 loss to Stevenson in a North Suburban Conference match on April 29.
Highlights:
Kyle Moore--31 kills, 5 blocks, 23 assists, 18 service points, 20 digs
Henry Lamp--37 kills, 3 blocks 13 service points
Kris Hawkins--18 kills, 5 blocks, 16 service points
Andrew Carr--75 assists
Kyle Moore and Henry Lamp were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Coach Day was very proud of the team's overall performance. "I witnessed great play from my boys. Lake Forest illustrated they can play with tough teams like Stevenson and Libertyville, but we need to eliminate the slow starts and inconsistency throughout the match."

Kyle Moore--26 Kills, 8 Service Points, 22 Assists
Michael Simet--8 Blocks (4 were double)
Andrew Carr--45 Assist
On Friday, the teams played very competitively and showed improvement with service receive and defense. Coach Day likes to play teams like Stevenson and Deerfield because they are competitive and can only make your team better by forcing them to stop their play.

On Saturday, Lake Forest started hot and fast out of the box pushing for every point, but mental errors allowed Carmel to take control.  For the Lake Zurich game, Lake Forest went back to the fundamentals of the game and realized they had the ability to control the game.

04/13/11
Lake Forest defeated Lakes 22-25, 25-20, 25-13

Highlights:
Kris Hawkins--13 Kills, 2 Blocks, 3 Service Pts 1 Ace
Henry Lamp--9 Kills, 4 Blocks, 3 Service Points 1 Ace
Kyle Moore--8 Kills, 5 Service Points 2 Aces, 2 Blocks, 8 Assists
Andrew Carr--23 Assists
After another rocky start, Lake Forest came back from a seven-point deficit to work their way back to a 22-25 loss.  As for Games 2 and 3, Lake Forest controlled and played a more disciplined game.  The team has been working hard in practice to improve play on the fundamentals of the game, and Coach Day has been trying a new lineup to find the right combination.  In her opinion, the Scouts took a big step forward toward their goal.

Eric Decker--17 Digs
Impressive team effort in the morning pool play--the strongest performance was the St. Francis game.  St. Francis placed second in the overall tournament action.  Lake Forest proved to be a highly-competitive team and played at a high level.  Unfortunately, the bracket play was a different story.  As a team, the Scouts were on a roller coaster, but they are learning!  Kyle Moore had an outstanding weekend for the Scouts.

04/05/11
Lake Forest defeated Antioch 25-21, 29-27
Highlights:
Kris Hawkins--11 Kills, 8 Service Points
Henry Lamp--15 Kills
Mike Simet--3 Kills 1 Block
Andrew Carr--21 Assists
Eric Decker--10 Digs
Despite inconsistent play (13 service errors--8 in the first game--and 20 hitting errors) our mental strength pulled the team through the night. Coaches were very proud of how the team handled an 18-23 deficit to win 29-27 in the second game. Henry Lamp played an outstanding game. The Scout's next game is at the Glenbard tournament over the weekend.

The Lake Forest Boys' Volleyball team came out to play hard against the Mustangs from Mundelein.  Lake Forest did a great job spreading their offense evenly throughout match play.  In the second game, the Scouts were able to use their momentum to force Mundelein into a third game, but came up short for the win.  Service errors proved to be the team's downfall.  The team should be proud of their overall performance.
