01/31/12
Lake Forest 31 – Libertyville 56

The Scouts lost a tough one to the Lake Division Champions.  Annie Keller led the way with 12 points and 4 rebounds.  Mary Striedl had 5 rebounds and 5 steals.  Gabby Perino added 4 steals.

The Scouts will finish the regular season with a game on Friday, February 3, at Lake Zurich at 7:30 and a game Tuesday, February 7, at Round Lake at 7:00.

Lake Forest 37 – Glenbrook South 62

The Scouts struggled to contain the post players of Glenbrook South.  Gabby Perino led the team with 11 points.  Annie Keller added 7 points and 10 rebounds.  Michelle Antonucci added 7 points.

Lake Forest 34 – Stevenson 51

The Scouts stayed close and kept it a game, but could not get closer than 10 late in the game.  Mary Striedl and Annie Keller led the Scouts with 13 and 11 points respectively.  Mary Striedl added 9 rebounds and 3 steals, while Annie Keller had 8 rebounds.  Sarah LaFasto had a team high 5 steals.

Lake Forest 55 – Mundelein 67

The Scouts fell to 3-20 overall, 0-9 in conference.  The Scouts trailed by 10 at half and 18 after the 3rd quarter, but never gave up.  The Scouts scored 23 points in the final quarter and closed the gap back to 10 points.  Annie Keller led the way with 15 points and Mary Striedl added 14 points, and they each added 7 rebounds.  Mary Striedl added 5 steals and 3 blocks.

Lake Forest 35 – Warren 50

The Scouts fell to the Blue Devils falling to 3-19 overall, 0-8 in conference.  The Scouts were down 22-15 at half after a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Warren to close the half.  The third quarter proved to be the biggest difference as the Blue Devils outscored the Scouts 16-5.  Mary Striedl led the way with 12 points and Michelle Antonucci added 8 points.  Annie Keller had 5 rebounds and 4 steals.  Tori Moore scored her first career basket.

Lake Forest 32 – Zion-Benton 69

The Scouts (3-18, 0-7 in conference) fell to Zion-Benton.  Mary Striedl and Annie Keller led the way with 9 points each.  Mary added a team high 3 steals and Annie added a team high 7 rebounds.

Lake Forest 34 – Elk Grove 42

The Scouts lost a close one to Elk Grove and fell to 3-17.  Annie Keller led the way with 11 points.  The Scouts struggled to score for most of the game until the 4th quarter--when they scored 19 points.

The Scouts lost a tough one to Wauconda and fell to 3-16.

Lake Forest 50 - Lake Zurich 56

The Scouts fell to 3-15 and 0-6 in conference with a tough loss to the 2nd place Bears from Lake Zurich.  The Scouts were up 3 heading into the 2nd quarter.  Lake Zurich went on a run and was up 9 with a minute left in the half.  Mary Striedl hit 2 3-pointers to cut the lead to 3 heading into halftime. 

The Scouts outscored Lake Zurich by 10 in the 3rd quarter--led by Mary Striedl and Gabby Perino.  Lake Zurich cut the lead to 2 with 2 minutes left in the game, and Lake Forest struggled to score.  The Scouts were led by Mary Striedl with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks.  Gabby Perino and Annie Keller added 12 and 11 points respectively.


Christmas Service Project
Members of the varsity girls' basketball team are shown above purchasing gifts for a local family of four which they adopted through Catholic Charities as a holiday service project.

Lake Forest 15 - Palatine 40

The Scouts finished 1-4 at the Warren Holiday Tournament. Mary Striedl and Annie Keller were named to the all-tournament team. Next up: the Scouts host Lake Zurich on Thursday, January 5, at 7:00PM in the competition gym. Keller Named to All-Tourney Team at Warren.

Lake Forest 50 - Deerfield 48

The Scouts improved to 3-12, after an exciting victory over the Warriors from Deerfield.  This was their second meeting and Deerfield beat Lake Forest by 20 the first time around.  The Scouts trailed early, 16-4 to end the first quarter.  The second quarter was all Lake Forest--led by Mary Striedl and Annie Keller--outscoring Deerfield 25-9.  In that period, Annie Keller had 13 of her team-high 16 points.  Mary Striedl had 10 of her 14 points that period.  It was a close battle the rest of the game.  Allie Danneker had 12 points and a big 3 to take the lead late in the 4th quarter, while Gabby Perino added a big basket late as well.  Mary Striedl and Annie Keller each added 11 rebounds.

The Scouts will play Wednesday, December 21st at 4:30 against Wheeling at Warren High School - Almond Campus
They will also play Thursday, December 22nd at 4:30 against Palatine at Warren High School - Almond Campus

Lake Forest 32 - Carmel 45

The Scouts (2-12) fell to the Corsairs from Carmel.  Lake Forest fell behind early, trailing 16-0 to end the first quarter.  They came back strong in the second quarter to go down 20-13 to end the half.  Mary Striedl led the way with 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Annie Keller added 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Lake Forest 44 – Grayslake Central 62

The Scouts opened the Blue Devil Classic with a loss to the Rams. The Scouts struggled to get their offense going. Anytime the Scouts went on a little run, the Rams followed with one of their own. The biggest difference in the game was Grayslake shot 33 free throws, while the Scouts shot only 12. Lake Forest was led by Allie Danneker and Annie Keller with 9 points each. Keller also added 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Mary Striedl led the team with 8 rebounds, and added 4 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.

The Scouts continue tournament play on Monday at 3:00 against Carmel at Warren High School.

Lake Forest 19 – Libertyville 54

The Scouts (2-10, 0-5), were trailing 9-8 with a couple minutes left before half, and down 17-10 at halftime. The second half Libertyville went on a big run and the Scouts had trouble scoring. Gabby Perino and Annie Keller led the Scouts in scoring with 5 each.

Lake Forest 36 – Stevenson 50

The Scouts (2-9, 0-4) went into halftime with an 18-17 lead, but could not hold on. Lake Forest struggled to score in the 3rd quarter, where Stevenson outscored Lake Forest 11-4.  The Scouts had it back to within 2 points with 5 minutes left in the game.  The Patriots started to create some distance at that point by shooting well from the outside.  Annie Keller led the Scouts with 10 points, and added 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Mary Striedl added 4 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 1 block. Cat Perino and Kelsey Simet each added 6 points.

Lake Forest 19 - Warren 61

The Scouts (2-8, 0-3) struggled to score against the Blue Devils.  Kelsey Simet and Annie Keller led the way with 5 points each.  Allie Danneker led the team with 4 rebounds and Kelsey Simet added 3.  Jennifer Kreb led the way with 3 steals.

The Scouts continue conference play this Tuesday (home vs Stevenson) and Thursday (home vs Libertyville).  Both games are at 7:00.

Lake Forest 35 - Zion-Benton 65

The Scouts (2-7, 0-2) fell behind early to the Zee-Bees, trailing 41-14 at half.  Mary Striedl led the way with 14 points.  She also added 3 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.  Gabby Perino had a good defensive game and brought a lot of energy to the floor.  She led the team with 9 rebounds and 7 steals.

Lake Forest 37 - Highland Park 50

The Scouts (2-6) fell behind early trailing 22-10 at half.  The Scouts had trouble scoring and stopping Munzer from the Giants who had 30 points.  The Scouts were led by Gabby Perino with 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Sarah LaFasto and Allie Danneker added 8 points each.  Mary Striedl added 3 steals.  Anna Schwartz brought some great energy off the bench and added 4 points.  The Scouts will continue conference play on Tuesday at Zion-Benton at 7:00.

Lake Forest 50 - Mundelein 58

The Scouts (2-5, 0-1) had trouble running their game against the Mustangs.  Mundelein did a great job dictating the tempo of the game.  The Scouts trailed by 7 at half and 9 at the end of the 3rd quarter, but continued to fight back.  The Scouts closed the gap to three with a few minutes left in the the 4th, but could not get any closer.  Allie Danneker led the way with 14 points, while Annie Keller added 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Cat Perino chipped in 9 points.  Mary Striedl also had 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Lake Forest 39 – Niles West 50

The Scouts (2-4) gave the Wolves from Niles West all they could handle.  Niles West is a ranked team in the State of Illinois, featuring Notre Dame bound Jewell Bound, and the Scouts did all they could to stop her.  Jennifer Kreb defended her most of the game--with the help of Gabby and Cat Perino, along with a collective team effort--to hold Lloyd to 23 points (well below her average of 35 points per game).  Lake Forest fell behind early, trailing 13-4 at the end of the first quarter, but continued to play hard.  The Scouts were never out of the game, but the early deficit proved to be hard to overcome.  The Scouts were led by Mary Striedl (14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks), Allie Danneker (14 points, 4 steals), Annie Keller (8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks).

The Scouts open up conference play on Thursday, December 2, at Mundelein.

Lake Forest 34 - Zion Benton 43
The Scouts (2-3) were down 13-4 to end the first quarter, but closed the gap to 20-15 to end the half.  Zion hit a couple 3-pointers in the 3rd to pull away, but the Scouts kept fighting back.  The Scouts closed the gap back to 7 down the stretch, but could not get closer.  The Scouts were led by Mary Striedl with 10 points and Annie Keller with 9 points.  Cat Perino did a great job rebounding.

Lake Forest 30 - Evanston 40    
The Scouts (2-2) fell behind early and were playing catch up most of the game.  The Scouts were down 25-15 at half and closed the gap to 31-28 to end the 3rd quarter.  The 4th quarter was dominated by Evanston.  The Scouts were led by Annie Keller with 8 points and 15 rebounds.

SCOUTS START SEASON 2-1

11/19/11
Lake Forest 30 - Deerfield 50
The Warriors brought great intensity to their game and put the Scouts in a big hole early. The Scouts trailed 14-6 at the end of the first quarter and 28-9 at half. Although trailing, the Scouts never gave up. They made a nice run to start the 4th quarter and really picked up the intensity, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Deerfield dominated the boards.

The Scouts were led by Mary Striedl with 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Annie Keller with 9 points and 5 rebounds. The Scouts fall to 2-1. They will play Evanston next in the Deerfield Thanksgiving Tournament on Monday, November 21, at 7:30.

11/17/11
Lake Forest 40 – Waukegan 34

The Scouts improved to 2-0 after their victory over Waukegan in the first game of the Deerfield Thanksgiving Tournament.  Waukegan’s Cunningham gave the Scouts a lot of trouble down low, as she led all players 18 points.  The pressure defense by Lake Forest  is what won the game.  The Scouts totaled 25 steals in the game (Striedl 10, Simet 4, Gabby Perino and Danneker 3 a piece).  The Scouts leading rebounders were Annie Keller with 10 and Mary Striedl with 8.  The Scouts received great contributions off the bench, including some defensive intensity from Jennifer Kreb.  Waukegan kept it close all game, but defense and intensity of the entire team in the 2nd half led the Scouts to victory. 

Lake Forest will take on Deerfield at Deerfield on Saturday, November 19, at 7:30.

11/15/11
Lake Forest 39 - Regina 21

The Scouts (1-0) got their season off to a great start!  The Scouts trailed 17-8 midway through the 2nd quarter, but closed out the game on a 31-4 run.  Lake Forest out-rebounded Regina 36-26 and were led by Mary Striedl with 15 rebounds.  Kelsey Simet had 9 rebounds, and Annie Keller had 8.  The Scouts were also great defensively--totaling 14 steals.  Mary Striedl led the way with 7 steals, including 11 deflections.  The Scouts had great contributions off the bench from Cat Perino and Norie Kaufmann.  This was a great team effort, including 8 different players scoring.

The Scouts open their Thanksgiving Tournament at Deerfield against Waukegan on Thursday, November 17th at 4:30.
