Head, Girls Varsity Cheerleading

Jaclyn Cardenas is beginning her first year as the Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach this year--2013!  Coach Cardenas is a LFHS alumni who cheered on the Varsity Cheerleading squad for four years.  Jaclyn served as a co-captain her Sophomore year, and as captain her Junior and Senior years.  She not only competed at the national level, earning an 11th place finish in 1998, but she led the squad to its State Champion title in 2000. In addition to cheering atLFHS, Jaclyn participated on an elite all-star cheerleading program during high school.  After graduating from LFHS, she returned as a volunteer to choreograph and assist in coaching the newly-formed Junior Varsity cheerleading program for three consecutive summers. 

Coach Cardenas earned her B.A. in Psychology, studying at both North Central College and Illinois State University; at each of these institutions, she performed and competed as a member of the dance teams.  While attendinggraduate school at the University of Arizona, where Jaclyn earned her Ed.S in School Psychology, she also worked as a principal dancer and Assistant Line Captain for the Chicago Honey Bear Dancers; she held this position for six years.  In addition to these accomplishments, Jaclyn has also had experience choreographing and coaching all-star, recreational, and middle-school cheerleading programs.  By day, she is employed as a School Psychologist at a nearby middle school.
Teri Spanswick
Assistant, Girls Varsity/JV Cheerleading
2013 marks Coach Spanswick's first year coaching cheerleading at LFHS.  Teri was a Division I college cheerleader for the Colorado State University Rams during her junior and senior year.  Those cheerleading squads were nationally ranked in the top 10.  Prior to that, Coach Spanswick cheered all 4 years in high school and served as captain during her senior year.  Recently, Teri and her husband of 20 years, along with their 2 daughters, moved to Lake Bluff from Austin, Texas.  By day and night she is a stay-at-home mom.

Linda Rich

Assistant, Girls JV Cheerleading
Coach Rich has been JV coach since 2011--this time as JV cheerleading coach at LFHS. She has been the JV cheerleading coach twice before at Lake Forest. Coach Rich received her Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and her Master's from National Louis University. She teaches in the Special Education Department at Lake Forest High School.
