It was a chilly, sunny day
and what an amazing display of talent!! Saturday's "power quad"
proved to be the most challenging weekend of the season, and
the Scouts are stronger for it. Facing the top teams in the
state, the Scouts fought hard every single match and learned
a great deal in the process! The grill was fired up and the
hot burgers never tasted so good. Thank you to all of the parents
who organized and served lunch to about 80 people! It was an
awesome tennis day---Way to go Scouts

The Scouts were tied 3- 3 with GBN......Birthday girl Emily
Kuchman gave the team a special present by winning her
doubles match, which was the deciding match!! What a
giver!! Emily was steady at the baseline, hitting a mix
of tight angles and deep cross-court shots--setting up
her partner to poach--and Haley did just that!! They stayed
calm, cool and collected out there and did a great job
playing smart tennis. Haley implemented the lob brilliantly
and her serve was on fire. Great job Haley and Emily....You
rocked it!

The Scouts made the most of the beautiful fall day by capturing
the title at the York Invitational.....What a team effort!

Hart and Colleen Morris! Erin and Colleen battled through their first-round
match to beat an aggressive, athletic team. Erin showed courage
and focus by playing through the pain of her throbbing knee.
She stayed strong and positive for the team. Way to lead by
example, Erin!
Colleen played loose and did an amazing job taking over the
middle of the court. She showed everyone another gear on Saturday......Colleen
is a force to be reckoned with!

all the way back. Megan covered the court beautifully and did
a great job of mixing up the pace, spin etc....way to go Megan!!

Catherine and Victoria were a force to be reckoned with. They
both did a great job setting up each other and capitalizing
on weakness in the opponent's game. Victoria's monster serve
set up Catherine to finish point after point....after point!!

Zordani! The wind was a big factor in Thursday's match and Elizabeth
made the necessary adjustments to come out on top! After losing
a close first set, Elizabeth set her sights on following the

Paige played a great match!! She kept her opponent on her
heels by staying close to the baseline and approached the
net on every short ball. By challenging herself to
come to the net, Paige executed an aggressive game plan and
dominated the match. It paid off...great win Paige!!
Game ball awarded to........Lucy Lincoln!!
Lucy played a very smart match against her opponent! After
winning a close first set, lucy turned it into high gear
and never looked back. Her patience and depth of
her ground strokes led her to a 6-1 second set victory.

needed to win...and she did that. Catherine was a "cool cat",
working each point and gradually wearing down her opponent.
Down 5-4 in the second set, Catherine hit a monster "clutch"
serve to tie the match up 5-5. She executed the game plan
perfectly and came back to win 7-5!
Way to go Catherine.
Margaux Miller - Margaux set up her partner over and over again
with her big serve and low drives from the baseline. Calm,
cool and collected....freshman Margaux is on the fast track
of learning how to play effective doubles. Way to go Margaux!
008/27/11 New Trier Invitational
Round 1
Lake Forest 5 - St. Charles North 0
The
Scouts went down early at the New Trier
Invite, but were not counted out. After losing to Glenbrook
North in the second round of the team tournament, the Scouts
fought back......going on to win the next two rounds beating
OPRT and New Trier's green team! This tournament was a great
learning experience for the young Scouts and will only make
us stronger!! Way to go Scouts
Game Ball Awarded to: Megan Morris!!!
The very first match of the 2011 season turned out to be
a battle for senior captain Megan Morris. After losing
the first set, Megan charged back to win the match. She
showed amazing poise and did a great job executing the game
plan! Megan's killer serve and awesome forehand did
not let her down. She stayed focused and stayed positive
the entire match.... Way to lead by example Megan! Congratulations,
Megan!!
