The first time Lake Forest High School's football team played at East
Campus was in September of 1935. A 72-year tradition, Lindenmeyer Field
was named after Edgar Lindenmeyer, the school's first-ever Varsity football
coach. He coached football at Lake Forest High School from
1935-1951. Mr. Lindenmeyer also taught boys' physical education at
Lake Forest High School from 1935-1964. In his 17 seasons, the record
book shows: 4 no-loss seasons, 6 one-loss seasons and a career
record of 96-27-10.
Edgar Lindenmeyer played football at the University of Missouri. In 1925,
he
was
named the school's first All-American offensive tackle. He also
served as a
lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. Edgar Lindenmeyer passed away
in 1981. Lindenmeyer Field will continue to be a home field for Physical
Education/
