Monday April 16th

Wear recycled clothing to school
• Noon dedication of Courtyard Garden followed by dedication of Wangari Mathaii mural, a Nobel Prize winning Environmentalist

• 3600 plastic water bottles displayed on the front lawn to show the importance of recycling and the impact of our throw-away society

• City of Lake Forest recycling truck will be at LFHS at 1:00 pm - funded by the recycling of residents- will be coming during lunch periods

• During homerooms each student will receive an organic chocolate chip cookie from Max’s Organic Planet, along with a schedule to promote this fantastic week!

Tuesday April 17th

Bring your own Nalgene Day- we’ll provide stickers to decorate and personalize the bottles!

• 3:30 pm - plant prairie plants on the bike path with help from Lake Bluff Middle School

Wednesday April 18th

Guest speaker Rob Caughlan, chairman of the Conservationists for Jimmy Carter, will present at 8:15am and 1:45pm for all students to hear as well as during four additional periods for smaller groups. Rob Caughlan had spent his entire professional career promoting environmental advocacy. He led the Surfider Foundation to victory in what Newsweek called the “second largest clean water enforcement action in the nation’s history,”and was on the staff of Congressman Leo Ryan, who was assassinated in the Jonestown tragedy. Caughlan produced a ten part television series for Turner Broadcasting on global environmental issues called “Voice of the Planet.” He has served on the White House staff for solar energy and co-wrote and produced “Future in the Cradle,” an award winning video documentary on global population issues.

Thursday April 19th

Ride your bike to school- Nonno’s fair trade coffee and hot chocolate will be provided for students and teachers who participate!

• Waste Management representatives will be coming with a recycling truck for a demonstration with gifts from recycled t-shirts to Frisbees for students

Inconvenient Truth will be playing in the DMT during periods 4,5,6

Friday April 20th

Organic food tasting in the cafeteria during all lunch periods- participants include Jamba Juice, Tall Grass Beef/ Sunset Foods, Whole Foods, Ben and Jerry’s, Kim and Scott’s Soft Pretzels, Organic Sushi, Izze Beverages, Max’s Organic Planet etc.

ALL WEEK PLEASE BRING IN OLD FLEECE AND TENNIS SHOES TO BE RECYCLED IN THE FRONT HALL
