2008 HIGHLIGHTS
In honor of Gorton Community Center’s 20th Anniversary Season
of “Cabin Fever Jazz,” Lake Forest High School, with
support of the Lake Forest High School Foundation, featured a Master
Music Clinic showcasing well known jazz artists John Moulder (guitar)
Vijay Tellis-Nayak (piano) and Paul Wertico (drums). The three musicians,
along with Tio Carillo, are part of a new group whose original composition, “Trinity,” was
the opening performance at the 2006 Chicago Jazz Festival. Moulder,
Tellis-Nayak, and Wertico participated in a two hour music clinic
at Lake Forest High School on Thursday, January 31 with the LFHS
Jazz Band musicians. The musicians worked with the band as a whole,
as well provided individual and group instrument instruction.
An additional enrichment opportunity for the LFHS Jazz band was made
possible with the support of Applause. A masterclass with clinician
Mike Pendowski from Vander Cook College took place on February 4.
Mr. Pendowski teaches at VanderCook College of Music where he directs
the jazz band, teaches music theory and performs all over the city. |
